Great book. I use it almost every day as a music major on euphonium. Started using it junior year in high school. Highly recommended for any high level high school player and a must for any college euphonium player. Only flaw is the book design. The book edge is standard paperback, but should really be spiral bound. Way too many pages to keep the book open. I have to use clips to keep mine on the page

BREATHTAKING

Oh WOW, words cannot describe what I feel after reading Sarah Elizabeth's new story, Don't Let Me Go. Breathless might express it the best. CL and Lamb have buried down deep in my heart. My eyes are overflowing and my heart feels like it will burst. The emotions are overwhelming. This story is breathtaking, memorable, shocking, sad, hopeful, poetic, tragic, lyrical, stunning, unforgettable, jaw-dropping, and tear-inducing. There aren’t enough words for how this story made me feel. Sarah’s writing touches me down deep. It stays with me, becomes a part of me. It speaks to me in a way that no other author can. It is different, set apart, MORE. She is all heart and overflowing love and it shows in all that she writes. This story, CL and Lamb, will live in my heart forever. I highly recommend Don’t Let Me Go! This is a must read!

Gut wrenching and breathtaking

I read a lot. I have had the pleasure of reading this author's books before. But, it was with this book that I realized something that I already knew about reading. There is a huge difference between a book where you can tell the author has agonized over every single word and a book written for a paycheck.
This is a book where you see the author is an artist. Yes, there is chemistry between Lamb and CL. Yes, the storyline has you cheering for the bad guys. But take a drink from this author's koolaid. You don't only see CL's desire and struggle you get inside his soul and see the world through his eyes.
This book is a journey, not just a read. And at the end I didn't care about the plot, although it gutted me, I cared about the people in it. And that was when I realized the way those characters were written CL and Lamb weren't just characters to me anymore somehow I began thinking of them as real people.
That was when I realized the difference between writing and storytelling.

I loved it.

I want to say I hated it, but I love/hated this pretty hard. I kind of expected my heart to break a little, but I'm hanging in there.
Anyway, Sarah's short but bittersweet tale is worth it. CL and Lamb left me with my jaw hanging open at 'the end', and while I was ready to scream bloody murderous 'no!'s and piss my parents off by ranting about this book, I settled for re-reading the last two chapters instead.
Still... wanted to scream.
I highly recommend this book to Dusty fans and post-read angst-lovers. If that's you, this book is perfection. If that's not, it'll still leave you reeling.
When I see jolly ranchers and snow cones, I'll be thinking of CL and Lamb

About the Author

David Bowie is a Senior Lecturer in Marketing at the Oxford School of Hospitality Management at Oxford Brookes University, UK. David has taught Hospitality and Tourism Marketing at the undergraduate, master's and doctoral level. His main research interest is branding. David has over 30 years of practical hospitality management experience.

Francis Buttle is an honorary professor of Marketing and Customer Relationship Management, and author of more than 125 peer-reviewed papers and 11 books. Buttle has taught Customer Relationship Management in universities on three different continents, and was appointed to a sponsored chair at Manchester Business School in the UK. He currently lives and operates a customer management consulting company in Sydney, Australia.

Maureen Brookes is a Reader in Marketing and a Teaching Fellow within the Oxford School of Hospitality Management at Oxford Brookes University, UK. She is currently President (elect) for ICHRIE, the largest global professional association of hospitality and tourism educators, researchers and industry members, fromer President of EuroCHRIE, CHME Honorary Fellow and Professional Review Panel member for the Institute of Hospitality. Her research and publications are on franchising and plural organizations, covering diverse topics such as partner selection, entrepreneurship, relational development and knowledge transfer.

Anastasia Mariussen is an account manager and strategist at Google, working with large Norwegian companies. After studying for her PhD at the Oxford School of Hospitality Management, UK, she held a position of Associate Professor at the Oslo School of Management, Norway, and participated in a number of international projects as a consultant or board member. Anastasia’s interests involve digital and multichannel marketing, affiliate networking, mobile marketing, online distribution, employment of ITC and social media in hospitality and tourism businesses, attribution modelling and online marketing performance measurement.

New nurse (to the ICU) - I came from Oncology. ICU is a whole different learning curve. I felt this gave a well explained overview of the ICU life. (Obviously you will see TONS of different diagnosis, s/s, and may need to go WAY in depth on some topics) This will get you the fundamentals as well as common things to look for. It is an AMAZING reference so far. Love the different diagrams, tables, pictures, lay outs.

A hot and steamy new version of the Olympian Gods

Oh my! Was this hot and steamy. This is a great new take on the stories of the Gods of Olympia. It is quite hot, with a dominating God of the Underworld and a Mistress Nymph. Two hot love stories!
Of course all of this while dealing with an overbearing mother who is hunting Persephone to marry her off to someone she doesn't love.
Then there is a prophesy of a Titan God wanting to kill Persephone. Can she survive this story and will she end with the one she desires?
Definitely a hot a steamy love story of not just one couple, but two. A quick little novella, that can get you all hot and bothered.

Good story

I enjoyed this story. It is a continuation from Book 1 and things really start to heat up. I do like Hades. There are 2 couples in this story that find love. I do like the other characters in the story too like poor Hermes and his rightful fear of Demeter, Persephone's mother. I could well imagine more evil coming from there in the future along with Helios and his hurt pride. It is a very imaginative story.

About the Author

Brian R. Johnson is an associate professor in the School of Criminal justice at Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He received his Ph.D. in the social sciences from Michigan State University in 1998. He also holds an MLIR in industrial relations and human resource management and an MS in criminal justice from Michigan State University. He received his BA from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. His primary areas of interest are organizational and legal issues in private security and law enforcement. Johnson has served as a trainer and consultant to a number of private security organizations, has worked in proprietary and contract security organizations, and is the author of several articles and publications in the field of private security and law enforcement. He is also a member of the American Society for Industrial Security.

A recurring theme often heard from leaders in the field of private security is that although managers typically possess the technical skills needed to excel in the workplace, they often lack the fundamental "people" skills that are equally important to ensuring that an organization runs smoothly. In my experience teaching at the university level, many of the major discussion points and questions from my students are not related to security systems, technology, or hardware. Instead, they deal with the interpersonal aspects of managing people and with the daily activities a security manager is expected to perform. My own employment and other practical experiences with security organizations has validated these concerns and prompted me to address these issues in this book.

I wrote Principles of Security Management with an orientation aimed at providing the reader with a comprehensive understanding of what it takes to be an effective security manager. This book is premised on the fact that security operations and practices do not operate in isolation. Regardless of whether the security organization is proprietary or contractual, it operates in a broad context and interacts with other departments, organizations, or systems.

This implies that students and security practitioners need to apply cutting-edge business practices and principles in their organizations if they are to ensure personal and organizational success. In order to help readers achieve this goal, this book incorporates contemporary research and information drawn from the social science and business literature. It provides the reader with a comprehensive and balanced understanding of the role and functions of security in the twenty-first century.

The organization of this book reflects the knowledge, skills, and abilities that are needed to be a successful security manager and maximize an employee's potential. The focus is on the management of the greatest asset any company can possess—its employees.

The first three chapters provide the basic framework for the remainder of the text. Chapter 1, the introduction, provides the reader with a general discussion of the current state of security and management principles. A historical review of the industry is also presented to help the reader gain an understanding of the current state of security. Chapter 2, meanwhile, provides the reader with an understanding of the need for leaders in security organizations and reviews principles and theories related to effective leadership. Chapter 3 summarizes the major points of being an effective supervisor, including the diverse roles and responsibilities of the supervisor. The fundamental managerial activity of planning and decision making is discussed in detail in Chapter 4.

The next five chapters focus on the progression of managerial activities related to supervising employees. Chapter 5 examines the recruitment and selection process as well as legal issues that must be considered when hiring new employees. Chapter 6 provides a general overview of issues related to training employees. Once these employees are properly trained, another managerial responsibility is motivating them to maximize their potential and contribution to the organization. Motivation is addressed in Chapter 7. The need for monitoring the performance of individuals is also a fundamental managerial activity. Chapter 8 discusses contemporary approaches to properly managing and designing an appraisal system that is acceptable to employees and managers in the organization. Chapter 9 deals with issues related to the discipline and discharge processes in organizations. It includes a discussion on the need for the creation and maintenance of a disciplinary program as well as procedures for discharging employees in an ethical, fair, and legal manner.

The next three chapters examine specific issues in private security. Chapter 10 exposes the reader to a greater understanding of the history of unions and collective bargaining in the United States, the grievance administration process, and security's role during strikes. One activity that all managers will need to engage in over the course of their careers is conducting security surveys. Chapter 11 provides the reader with a general understanding of the need for security surveys, including various approaches when conducting security audits. It includes a discussion of the minimum requirements for what should be included or analyzed. Organizational planning also requires the creation of budgets. Chapter 12 provides an analysis of the budgeting process in organizations by examining the various purposes behind budgeting and the roles of managers in the budgeting process.

Another regular managerial responsibility is scheduling employees. Chapter 13 examines the process of putting together a schedule and various types of models that can be used to effectively schedule employees in an organization. The last chapter is an overview of issues that the security industry will be expected to address during the next three decades, such as defining security as a profession, changes in the legal environment, and expansion into new markets.
