Hopefully The End Of The Series!

This is the fourth book in this series.Our hero is once again Christain

Gillette.He was elected Chairman of Everest by one vote.Since being the chairman he has had phenomenal sucess at making money for the firm.

In this newest book there is once again a plot to do Christain in.Victoria Graham,the chairperson of PennMu and members of the Washington D.C. power trust have hire Melissa Hart to get close to Christian Gillette and keep them informed of his plans.Victoria Graham and her cohorts have also hired Steven Sanchez a contract killer to deal

with Christian Gillette.

Christian Gillette is called upon by President Jesse Wood to act as a laison in Cuba.Wood is the first black American President.Cuba is about to undergo a coup.Wood wants Christian to talk to the leaders of the coup,

a group called Secret Six.Victoria Graham and her coconspirators want to use this event to nail President Wood and Christian for their part.They

want revenge on Christian for stopping the nano technology plot.

This would have been a good book if you would have left out the Cuba

plan.This dropped the book several levels.Our friend Quentin Stiles was also killed in this latest book.I hope that Frey goes back to writing good business books.

A Dissenting Opinion

This is the fourth in a series and although other reviewers have said the predecessors are better, I do not think I will indulge. I did not think this book was very good.

The premise of this book is that a rich capitalist is, for some unfathomable reason, picked by the president to decide if a group of revolutionaries in Cuba are the right ones to accomplish a coup. Getting there is apparently the trick. As absolutely loveable as this icon of capitalism is, it is somewhat - and only somewhat - apparent that there are at least two groups who want to kill him. When and where and why are all left to the last pages. There are women all over the place fawning over him and yet possibly conspiring against him. Very little makes sense for the first 198 pages. The book is written with glances at all the characters a few pages at a time. These glances are as disorganized as the rest of the book. I am not sure why this is described as a "thriller". It was a hard journey to get to Cuba with many asides that did not add to the plot or the characters.

The characters are all cardboard cut-outs. How's this for an original character? The icon's best friend is his black security director who was saved from gangs by his grandmother who enlisted him in the Army. Of course, he was Special Ops and then retired to go into private security. That's about all the depth you get of him. No character had any particular depth, which you would expect from a fourth book in a series.

In the end, the parts do come together. The coup is accomplished in about 2 1/2 pages and Gillette, the star, is only in country for about 8 pages. It did not seem as if Mr. Frey knew how to get from point A, the assignment, to point B, the coup in Cuba. He tried to get all sorts of intrigue with love and spies, but it just didn't work. Just to complete the formulaic nature of this book. At the end, the star leaves, waling into the sunset. Literally.

I would suggest passing over this book. If you want corporate intrigue go with Finder's books and skip this one.

I liked the first few Frey novels of high finance and the people who deal with money - good and especially the bad, but now I have the feeling that I am re-reading the same book over and over. The writing is adequete, and the characters are interesting, but sorry to say it seems to be the same plot over and over. The author has come to a point where he needs to stretch a little more or risk losing his audience.

Assistant Professor in the Speech Pathology Program, Department of Special Education and Individualized Services at Kean University in Union, New Jersey, and maintains a private practice in Central New Jersey. She has specialized in the evaluation and treatment of infants, children, and adults with cleft palate and craniofacial disorders for almost 25 years. Dr. Golding-Kushner received her B.S. in Speech Pathology and Audiology from the State University of New York at Albany, her M.A. in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Pittsburgh, and her Ph.D. in Speech Science from the Graduate School and University Center of the City University of New York, She was affiliated with the Center for Craniofacial Disorders of Montefiore Medical Center and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, New York, for 17 years, serving as Clinical Director of the Center and Assistant Professor in the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, for the last 8 of those years. She has made over 75 presentations at national and international conferences in four countries on topics related to communication disorders associated with cleft palate, assessment and treatment of velopharyngeal insufficiency, and velo-cardio-facial syndrome. She has authored or co-authored 14 journal articles, contributed three chapters on speech and cleft palate to text books, and written and produced a videotape on treatment of compensatory articulation and VPI. She was author of the first paper that described the language and learning disorders associated with velo-cardio-facial syndrome, a papr that is considered a landmark publication on VCFS.

MOM of a 4-month old baby with cleft of the soft palate

I'm a Mom of a 4-month old baby with a cleft. I also have a M.S. in speech-pathology. (What are the odds?) :) I found this book to be really helpful, because while I attended one of the leading institutions for graduate school, we only had 1 class on Craniofacial Disorders, most of which focused on diagnosis and not on how to do therapy with people with cleft. If you're a therapist reading this review, then you'll appreciate this book for the easy-to-recognize discussion of all aspects of speech, how articulation and VPI both may be affected with the presence of cleft (many folks think it's just hypernasality and nasal emission, when actually artic can become a big factor). This is just one example. The book highlights the importance of early intervention, even when surgery to correct the cleft hasn't been done, citing the importance of learning appropriate behaviors for speech, even in the absence of "normal" anatomy. (Therapy after surgery, then, can be much more successful, and kiddos aren't learning inappropriate compensatory strategies in the meantime.) There are chapters for doing therapy with all ages, including what kinds of things you can do with an infant who is not yet speaking. That was great for my family. If you're a PARENT of a child with cleft, there may be some things that don't readily make sense (sideview diagrams of the oral cavity during production of different speech targets), but most of the book is still going to be an excellent resource. It will teach you the logic of the TYPES of speech issues that can accompany speech with cleft, how these can develop and why they might develop, what you can expect, and what you can help do about it. I am a big believer in the more you learn, the more an advocate you become for your own child. And the more a part of the therapy "team" you become. Instead of just "taking your child to see the therapist", you become the "at home therapist" who can read, understand, ask questions, and implement good at-home behaviors that can help make a few weekly hours of professional therapy stretch beyond the walls of the "office", and into the child's everyday environment. Finally, if you're a new parent of a child with a cleft, please feel free to write me. There are few parents that were easy for me to talk to when my baby was born with this issue. Feeding is difficult in the beginning and it can feel scary and foreign, and far from the breastfeeding and closeness that you were imagining, especially if food is coming out the nose like it was for us, etc. It was a really vulnerable time for me and my family and therefore, I'd like to give other new parents someone to talk to who understands what you're going through and can maybe help with some ideas. A "Must Read" for all parents of children with cleft palate!

As a mother with a child who has a cleft palate, I was absolutely thrilled with this book. I have recommended it as a "must read" to all the parents of children with cleft palates that I know and to our healthcare professionals. It answered all the questions I have had, but could never find answers to, about my child's developing speech and how to manage his care. It contains easy to follow, useable techniques for improving speech production that are simple to apply and yield unbelievably fast results. Some of the topics of interest to me include: the basic mechanics of speech production, how to encourage early speech, how to recognize all the different types of cleft palate speech errors and how and when to correct them, how to make the most of Early Intervention and school district provided services, and, most importantly, specific exercises to encourage production of new sounds. The speech pathologist we work with, while excellent, does not have extensive experience in cleft palate speech. This book enabled her to design an exercise program tailored to my child's current needs and we plan to use it as a guide for each step of his speech development. After reading it I feel confident that I can actively and intelligently participate in my child's therapy.

An Excellent Source for Therapists Working with VPI

This book gave our therapist a clear set of instructions for working with my daughter, who has VPI and a submucus cleft palate. Using these techniques, after over a year of traditional therapy, within six months of three sessions a week this therapist had my daughter saying most of her sounds. It gave my baby her voice so she could tell me with words what she had, up until then, been telling me with gestures and tone of voice.
If your child has any leakage of air into his or her nose when speaking, this book is a must read. Read it yourself and pass it to your speech therapist. My daughter is now in a position where they can evaluate what, if any, surgical intervention will help with her speech.

Although I enjoyed reading the book the contents is a bit disjointed because the events are not laid out in a chronological order. However, the book reveals what a complex woman the Empress of Austria was. She was a total contradiction of her political views as she despised the very Monarchy that enabled her to travel the world and monetarily accommodated her every whim. But maybe her life would have unfolded differently had she not been forced to marry at 16 years of age. Then again, there are other monarchs who were thrust into the Royal life and did handle their position quite well. Overall, unfortunately the Empress of Austria lived a very unhealthy and unhappy life.

About the Author
Matt Stone has worked as a professional editor of Motor Trend, and editor of Motor Trend Classic magazines. He is also a Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance Chief Class judge, has authored ten automotive books, and has raced and restored a wide variety of cars. Although he demonstrates a particular penchant for postwar sports and GT machines, Matt finds joy in most anything with four wheels and an engine. He is a resident of Glendale, California, where his garage still has plenty of room for the 365 GTB Daytona coupe he has wanted since he was 17.

Luca Dal Monte personifies the Italo-American connection between Ferrari and the United States. Born in Cremona, Italy, Dal Monte attended the University of Kentucky. He later returned to the U.S. to head media relations for Ferrari North America, and also led the public relations effort during Maserati's return to the States. A passional student of Enzo Ferrari, Bruce Springsteen, NFL football, and Ferrari Formula One history, Dal Monte is director for all media and public relations at Maserati in Modena. He has authored several books, all in Italian, the most recent being a best-selling novel sent in the world of F1.

Wonderful book with excellent photos. If you are looking for a technical book about Ferrari this is not the book for you. If you want to pick up a simple read with a lot of photos than this is the book for you.

Bit Shallow ... in a pretty wrap.

It was said before and I can confirm: " ... this book lacks any context. It's simply a collection of unrelated factoids. It feels like it's been thrown together - quickly - from news articles and a few personal observations."

No awesome / new car pictures. No technical details. "No meat, just feathers"

Tabloid's stuff. ... in an expensive wrap.

Essential For Any Car/Ferrari Lover

I consider myself passionate about cars of all types and have been for most of my life. So, just like any other car lover, I've seen endless magazines and large books with colorful pictures of beautiful and exotic cars. This time I was looking for something a little different and I found The Ferrari Phenomenon. There is no shortage of Ferrari books out there and plenty of them offer mouth-watering pictures and overviews of the prancing horse's illustrious race history. However, where this book differs is the "anecdotal" type information. For example there is a section with quotes from famous people regarding their Ferraris or experiences they had while driving them.

Bottom Line: The Ferrari Phenomenon is a great addition to any established car book collection, or a great way to start a new one.
